Real-Time Transaction Handling

The new release allows depositors at member banks to earn interest the same day they deposit funds, which has historically been missed by the T+1 processing performed by most providers.

Program Transitions

The new module streamlines moving your reciprocal book off a legacy provider, with guided steps, automated workflows, and full visibility into every account for your team and depositors.

Transitioning to NBID: A Fireside Chat with Peers

Panelists from member banks shared why they moved to NBID, how they framed it to depositors, and why it was easier than expected.

Why they moved

“The economics were important for us. This is critical to the success of Zions Bancorporation.”

Frank DiPuma Frank DiPuma
EVP, Director Enterprise Commercial Products, Zions Bank

What changed for their team

“The access that I and other team members have into the system, it’s a night and day difference from what we had before. It’s so simple and easy to navigate.”

Doug Ladenburger Doug Ladenburger
Director of Treasury Management Services, Northrim Bank

How depositors reacted

“Their money moved, they got logged in, and there was no feedback. It was just a non-event. We changed from one vendor to another. It was surprisingly easy.”

Director of Treasury Management Services, Northrim Bank

WHAT WE'RE WATCHING
Fed Holds Rates Steady, Two Officials Dissent in Favor of a Hike

On October 28th, the FOMC voted 10–2 to hold the federal funds rate at 3.75%–4.00%, following its September increase. Governor Lisa Cook and Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack dissented, preferring another quarter-point hike. Ahead of the meeting, futures markets were pricing in a likely hike when the FOMC meets again on December 8th–9th.

Stablecoin Rulemaking Puts Bank Deposits in Focus

Agencies are working through GENIUS Act implementation, and on October 20th ICBA submitted comments on Treasury’s proposed rule for section 3, urging that final rules keep deposits inside the banking regulatory framework. ICBA research estimates that yield-bearing payment stablecoins could pull roughly $1.3 trillion out of bank deposits.

Fed Previews a Broader Definition of “Community Bank”

On October 6th, Fed Vice Chair for Supervision Michelle Bowman said the Board will consider later this year updating its fixed asset thresholds, with a built-in refresh every five years, along with broader changes to which institutions are treated as community banks (today, generally those under $10 billion in assets). She also announced a realignment of Fed supervision into five regions.

*NBID LLC is not a bank. Deposit insurance covers the failure of insured institutions, not NBID. Deposits are placed at FDIC-insured network institutions and are eligible for pass-through insurance up to $250,000 per institution. Certain conditions must be satisfied for “pass-through” FDIC deposit insurance coverage to apply. A list of participating banks appears at https://www.nbid.com/bank-list.
