Multi-Factor Authentication Requirement for the ModernFi CUSO Admin Portal

Important changes to Admin Portal access

May 26, 2026

Multi-Factor Authentication is coming to the Admin Portal

As ModernFi CUSO has grown to over 130 credit union partners, the network has seen accelerated adoption and usage. ModernFi CUSO is committed to upholding high standards for data security to serve our partners. With this principle in mind, ModernFi CUSO is enforcing a Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) requirement to access the Admin Portal starting June 10th, and you will have the option to enable this for your members on the Member Portal as a fast-follow, no later than the end of June.

When this conversion occurs, you will receive an email notification asking you to reset your password. Once you have established your credentials, you will be prompted to set up MFA using Time-based One-Time Password (TOTP) through an authenticator application of your choice (e.g., Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator) and/or SMS. Once you have registered, you will be able to access the Portal with the verification code provided through your selected channel.

Also note

Single Sign-On users

Please note that if your organization is utilizing Enforced Single Sign-On to access the Admin Portal, no action will be required during the conversion process.

Enabling MFA for your members

If you would like MFA enabled for your members, or if you have any questions on this process, please reach out to your Regional Director.

Insurance provided through program credit unions (subject to certain conditions). ModernFi, Inc., ModernFi Deposit Services LLC, and ModernFi CUSO LLC are not NCUA-insured credit unions. Deposit insurance covers the failure of an insured credit union, not ModernFi or ModernFi CUSO. Deposits are placed at insured network institutions and are eligible for pass-through insurance up to $250,000 per institution. Certain conditions must be satisfied for pass-through NCUA deposit insurance coverage to apply. A list of participating credit unions appears at modernfi.com/credit-union-list.
